WOW, this company needs to be sued along with their partners in crime Guardian. First, both these companies are unethical and, in my opinion, UN-American. To make a very long story short, I bought a 5K bedroom set ( Regency Collection) 3 years ago from the Rockford RoomPlace and I also bought the best warranty they had at the time.
Well, My headboard leather is peeling and is becoming brittle. Anytime you touch around the areas that are peeling, the leather falls off. This is just not happening in one area, put is starting to pop up all over the headboard and footboard. The peeling starts off small then becomes increasingly bigger.
1st step was to call Guardian and submit a claim. My wife took care of this part and was rudely denied by Guardians claim department. Guardian refused to look at the problem and refused to help in any way.
2nd step was to call The RoomPlace and explain what happened. The Rockford RoomPlace basically said there was nothing that they could do and advised me to contact the corporate headquarters.
3rd step was to contact corporate headquarters in which the suggested that I send complete pictures of bed and head board and a description of what the problem was. After waiting several weeks for a email or call back, I called corporate headquarters again. This time, the CSR stated there is nothing that The RoomPlace could do for me and that it was my problem.
Here is the email I sent to Corporate:
Hi,
I am emailing you today because of a problem I am having with my bedroom set that I purchased on 06/03/2014. Over the last month, the leather on the headboard is starting to peel or flake off and is getting to the point where if you just touch the leather around the peeling area, the leather will just flake off. My first step when I noticed the defective leather was to contact the warranty company. I purchased the best warranty available; therefore, I thought it would cover the problem with the faulty headboard leather. Unfortunately, when my wife talked with the warranty people, they were very rude and abrupt. The warranty company basically told us that they are not covering our claim and that we need to contact the Room Place where we purchased the furniture. My second step then was to contact Jim Reinders, the sales Manager in the Rockford Illinois Store where I purchased the furniture . I explained to Jim the problem I was having with the peeling leather and how my wife was treated by the warranty company. Jim explained that this matter would need to be addressed by Corporate in which Jim gave me the phone number to The Room Place Corporate offices. When I called corporate, I talked to a Customer Service Representative and explain what had happend to date and the problem I am having with the leather on my head board. I was told by the CSR to email pictures and a brief summery to the email above and wait till I receive a response.
First, I would like to say I have been told by numerous people throughout this process that if I would have read the fine print, it would explained that peeling or cracking leather is not covered by the warranty or the manufactures warranty because of the time frame. My point is that the material is defective therefore the leather is peeling and cracking because of faulty material. Secondly, when someone spends over 5K on a bedroom set, they would expect such furniture to last longer than 3 years and be covered under the extended warranty when purchased. And my third point, If the Room Place believes that this issue ( peeling/cracking leather) should not be covered in any way, then The Room Place is knowing selling sub-par furniture ,that they know will fail, at extremely high prices. Therefore, my story needs to be told on twitter, Facebook, and on all social media platforms to inform the public about my experience with The Room Place and the type of furniture that they sell. Thank you and if you need any further information or need to contact me please call or email.
Thank You,
Scott West
As a disabled veteran, I will be using my influence and status to make sure other veterans don’t buy from such dishonest companies like The RoomPlace. I will also be contacting anyone who will listen to me, I am sick of getting ripped off by such sleazy companies. Feel free to contact me to support our rights as consumers. The only way to hurt companies like this is to hit them where it hurts, the pocket book.

4 months and still no recliner
It has been 4 months since we ordered our couch that came with a free matching recliner. We chose to wait about 3 weeks for our delivery to come all together, they had said parts were out of stock.
3 weeks later we only get the couch and not the recliner or rug, we were told it was still out of stock and it would be in in 2 weeks. Lets just say, we have had over 5 different phone calls from the room place pushing back our delivery of both the rug and the recliner. About 2 1/2 months into waiting we finally cancel the rug purchase and tell them to forget out it. Now 4 months later we still don't have our recliner.
All they tell us is that they warehouse didn't have enough in stock to support the free recliner sale and we would have to wait. Its just ridiculous. Every time we ask to speak to a manager about it they say they can't do anything. Sure we could cancel it, but it is free.
My husband is convinced the room place offers free items, that they cannot provide in a timely manner so they get you into the store to buy. What a scam.

MOST UNHAPPY! FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN TAKEN!!
After battling with RoomPlace, I finally received a settlement of the insurance carrier returning what I paid for the loveseat. Although I received the amount on a store credit that I had to use in 30 days, I purchased two reclining chairs from them having to add...
I contacted the store manager and told her there was no contact yet with the insurance company. She told me she would look into it and get back to me.
The end of the following week, I called her trying to find where we are on the claim. She connected me in a three way...
When I finally was able to see the store manager, I told her that I had not heard from the insurance company. She told me that she would call them and get things rolling.
I was finally contacted by the insurance and was told to send pictures of the couch to them. I did...
The beginning of August I returned to the store and told the store manager of my problem. She advised me to call the insurance again and report the the mechanism seems to be faulty. The seat with the problem has its raising foot rest resting on the floor completely....
Since I first entered my review in May, sitting on the loveseat has thrown the alignment of my hips and spine off causing me a considerable amount of pain in my lower back and upper legs. I have had to go to a chiropractor for some relief but not it is not the total...
Getting nowhere with Room Place, I contacted NBC’s - NBC Respond’s. Within 30 days we were contacted by The Room Place and was sent a voucher for the amount we paid for the loveseat.
We went to Room place in McHenry, IL and purchased a more expensive ALL LEATHER loveseat. After about a year after purchasing the piece, I contacted the extended insurance company about the problems with this piece. The seat that is used the most has collapsed to the point that it is two to three inches lower than the other seat. This is visibly noticeable. When you want to get up after sitting, it is a struggle, you are sitting in what seems to be *** in the seat.
The front of the recliner has now dropped down to where it is touching the floor when in the closed position. The front of the other seat of the piece is one to one and one half inches above the floor.
I contacted the insurance. They sent two people to look at the reported problem and left my home saying nothing to me other than I would be contacted by the office. After a week and a half of not hearing from them I called and was told that the padding in the piece had been compressed from being sat on. Again, I was told that this was not covered by the insurance.
I then went to the store I purchase the loveseat from. I talked with the person who sold me the loveseat, a manager, and was told that it was from being used. Words to the effect that it was basically used more than it was desighed for and that it wasn’t covered by the manufacturer’s warranty or the additionally purchased insurance.
So here I sit after spending about $1400.00 on a piece of furniture that did not last two years with no hope of any help.
Even more than the quality of the piece of furniture is the waste of money spent on the additional repair insurance. The insurance is absolutely worthless,
The Room Place furniture store will not see me or any of my money in the future.

Amazing great sales associate name Shawn he helped us
Pissed ( Manger word don't mean squat)
Dupped again
Once again I've been scammed. Why do I keep going back.
Over the last 10 years I have bought furniture from The Room Place for every room in my house and I have NEVER had a purchase that has gone smoothly or without difficulties, misinformation or just plain lied to. I am so done this time. NO REALLY I'M DONE!!!! I bought the warranty for my furniture and was suppose to get a refund if not used after 5 years.
ok I thought it was a good deal .... NOT SO MUCH!!! they don't tell you that if you get the refund you have to spend $499.00 or more to be able to use that refund. Well That was the first thing that pissed me off.
so we decided to buy a new couch I called and reminded them that my warranty was due for a refund and they said they would take care of it and I would receive it in a credit card form that I had to spend at the store. Ok So I bought a couch and the couch was over $500 so I meet my $499 and over for the purchase. Had the couch delivered and a day later received my refund. So I took the card into the store to have them apply it to my new couch and was told since the furniture was already delivered I couldn't use it toward that purchase.
ARE YOU FREEKIN KIDDING ME!!!! ARE YOU FREEKIN KIDDING ME!!! They knew I was waiting on my refund because the salesmen even checked on my refund to see where it was. ONE DAY after it was delivered and I couldn't use it.
UNFREEKIN BELIEVABLE. Then I asked to speak to a manger and of course no one was available. I gave my information to the sales manger and she told me that the store manager would be in, in two days and she would call me to sort it out. Well Since I didn't get a call, I called the store and LOW & BEHOLD........
wait for it........the manager won't be in for another 2 days and the sales manager wont be in until the weekend. That's it!!!!! I AM SO DONE. I will also post this on my face book page, my instagram, BBB and a couple other sites that you can post complaints.
This is ridiculous and they need to teach their salespeople to stop lying to customers.
BTW this is the Store in ROCKFORD ILLINOIS. BEWARD!!!!
They sold me junk!!!!
We purchased our sectional in November! We should have known from the beginning there would be problems after 4 different delivery dates were changed.
After $4000 and 18 months of owning this "quality" furniture, the springs are broken, making the seat sag, and springs are also poking through the back rest, cutting anyone that is lucky enough to slide their hand accidentally between the cushions. The couch cushion has a about a three foot tear, also due to the springs sticking out. Imagine how sharp these springs are if they can do this to leather! We had to put Gorilla tape over them to try to keep from getting cut and it tore right through it!
We purchased the extended warranty that the salesman told us covered EVERYTHING! Big mistake! HUGE! Not only was that a lie, but the extended warranty is outsourced to some other group of clowns.
After waiting over a month after my complaint, it took the 2 clowns they sent over 20 minutes just to flip the couch upside down just to look at it. They tore off part of the backing, looked at it for four seconds, restapled it and said someone would call me in 7-10 days. After 2 weeks of not hearing anything, I called them, and they apologized that the two clowns were suppose to leave a card with their number and I was supposed to call them. Obviously, since it took them 20 minutes to flip a couch, they "forgot" to give me the card.
Really? They had one job...hand the customer a card! They didn't ask me to sign anything either. After an extended period of time, the woman I am talking to tells me that it is not covered because it is normal wear and tear.
How are springs sticking out of a couch and broken in the seat of a $4000 couch normal wear and tear? The couch is only 18 months old!!!! Am I silly to believe that it should have lasted longer than 18 months? By the Roomplace saying that it is "normal wear and tear" is them admitting to me that the couch was of terrible quality and it was made to last 18 months.
We have couches that are over 20 years old in better condition. Again, it has only been 18 months! This truly is a buyer beware! The salesman lied about what was covered, (should have read the pages with the minuscule print instead of trusting him).
I feel robbed from these people! After posting on Facebook, within one minute I heard stories of the same nature. This place needs to be shut down before they screw more people out of hard earned money!
Worst quality furniture out there. I would have been better off purchasing from a garage sale or Goodwill...no disrespect to Goodwill, they have better quality!
The room place failed me again

This review seems like she was going through a very tough time and had a lot on her plate . Its too bad they had to take it out on the store.
I have been buying for the last 15 years from this place and aside from a fake leather set peeling everywhere (my dog didn't help either) I have had no other issues.
Sorry for your loss but next time let the steam blow before you bash. These reviews are suppose to be helpful!!!!
This review IS helpful. The Room Place could not follow simple instructions that were set in place PRIOR to the passing of my grandfather.
I am not a spiteful person and have actually never filed a complaint like this before. However, when there is NO communication and an extream lack of compassion, I won't let that slide. Had they shown compassion at the time and offered to help in any way due to the circumstances and their fault of not following instructions, this review would not he been written. The "steam" had already "blown off" before this was written.
But hey, thanks for bring it all up again at Christmas. You obviously have nothing better to do.
